💡 Why this resume works

How to write a construction supervisor resume that proves schedule and safety control

A construction supervisor is measured on three things: the job stays on schedule, nobody gets hurt, and costs do not run away. The project manager reading your resume looks for specific jobs with their size, crew count and how you handled problems. A resume that only says "supervised construction" gives no way to tell whether you ran a single house or a twenty-story build.

Keywords construction ATS filters look for

Use them only where they are true for you: the filter searches for them, but the recruiter verifies them in the interview.

If you are moving up from tradesperson or lead

The step up is proven through documented responsibility. If you coordinated crews, kept daily logs, did takeoffs or tracked progress without the title, write it in those words. Add training: construction technology programs, OSHA 30, MS Project or Procore courses. Safety is where a junior candidate differentiates fastest — an OSHA 30 card carries real weight because companies are legally exposed on incidents. And mention willingness to travel to out-of-town projects, where most hiring happens.

Frequently asked questions

How do I move from tradesperson to supervisor on my resume?

Change the verbs from "installed" to "coordinated", "tracked", "scheduled". Document what you already did: daily logs, takeoffs, crew and sub coordination, progress control.

Should I write supervisor, foreman or superintendent?

Use your real title and match the posting; usage varies by company. In your summary you can bridge: "Construction supervisor (foreman)".

How do I size a project without the contract value?

Use square footage, unit or floor count, and duration. Those are details you remember and they size the job just as well.

How much does safety matter on the resume?

A great deal. "Delivered project with zero recordable incidents" is among the most valued lines. Add every safety certification you hold.

How long should it be?

One to two pages. Page one: summary, recent projects with scale and results. Older projects get one line each.
